There are many different features and details to consider when shopping for new replacement windows and the contractors to install them. We will walk you through the window replacement process and some important questions to ask yourself.
Window Brands

Window Types and Styles
Whether you want your new windows to bring a fresh new style or keep the look of the existing windows, here are some window descriptions to help you know the difference.
- Single Hung – Only the bottom window sash moves up and down.
- Double Hung – Both the upper and lower sash move up and down.
- 2-Lite or 3-Lite Slider – Has one or more windows that slide left or right to open and close.
- Casement – Has hinges on the left or right side and will push out to open, usually with a crank to push or pull the window.
- Picture – Does not open, simply a pane of glass with or without grids.
- Awning – Has hinges on the top of the window and pushes out like an awning to open.

Scheduling and Timing
Many contractors are busy in the spring and summer. Plan ahead by calling your contractor as far in advance as possible to ensure you can book a time that works for you. For simple projects, the window installation may only take a few days. For larger complicated projects, more time will need to be scheduled. Be sure to ask your contractor how long the project will take and how to prepare.
